MXI April Newsletter is out now! Look in your email! What? You didn't get one?

If you wish to receive a newsletter you must provide your email address, be a shareholder or have your succession in progress to receive a monthly edition. Contact me today. Watch for our May edition as it features our first competition to win a weekend away at the Camping Ground for 2! To qualify you must be on our register to receive your prize so get registered to be in to win.

April's highlight features a link to drone coverage of views in and around Matauri Bay and presented at our MXI Master Planning and Development Wānanga. View your proposed papakāinga house site or just enjoy the iconic location that we call home. The link has restrictions however, if you are a shareholder [or are in progress] you will be granted access.

The first of a series of three wānanga held on 10 April 2022 was well attended by 30+ participants. Attendees took part in reviewing places of significance to ensure future planning embraced cultural landscapes, the history of a people and memoirs captured over time.

Local speakers provided enlightenment on historical places and knowledge, archeological findings, maramataka māori and its relationship with the whenua.

Guest speaker Rau Hoskins assisted with ‘down to earth’ facilitation skills supported by Bernie Chote, local kuia and kaumātua and others. The wānanga provided whakawhanaungatanga opportunities which were well received by all including our current and newly appointed MXI Committee members who enjoyed familiarising themselves with the land, its character and the local community.

While participants engaged in discussions around the white board, post-its and paper the highlight was the hikoi down to the whānau campground, around to the carpark, along the subdivision and back to the nursery. A great day enjoyed by all. A huge mihi to our catering team with Milly and her ladies and to all who attended!

Our next wānanga is on 16 July 2022! Be sure not to miss that one as it will be a huge event planned with the whole whānau in mind!
